When we first bought our home, we loved how the rooms were extra spacious and how the main living space (i.e., the kitchen, living room and dining room) was open concept with high ceilings. Before moving in, we replaced the tiled floor throughout most of the house, re-sheetrocked all of the walls to smooth out the stucco, moved the dining room chandelier outlet to a different spot and added a fresh coat of paint everywhere.
