Life Lately: April 2018

I have spent the entire spring waiting for summer…it’s true! That’s totally weather-related though. It’s been a much slower spring for me than past years, which has been nice. I’ve been able to relax on the weekends with my family, start a regular workout regime (more on that, below) and attend a bunch of fun events in the city (a knitting class at Third Piece, a cocktail party hosted by Urban Decay, an amazing private dinner with the Lindt Chocolates team, etc.). Here are some of the highlights of my spring, so far…

The Justin Timberlake Concert with VerizonUp

Verizon invited me to see Justin Timberlake perform at TD Garden during his stop in Boston for his Man of the Woods Tour. A lot of people saw the videos that I posted on Instagram and asked me how I got so close to the stage. I was standing in the VerizonUp members section, which was a roped-off area on the floor in the best possible place you could watch Justin’s concert. I was escorted down to the area along with other VerizonUp members who had gotten the same “Super Ticket” as me by using the My Verizon app to redeem earned credits. VerizonUp is a rewards program that any Verizon customer can sign up for; you start to earn credits for paying your monthly Verizon bill and/or purchasing items at a Verizon store. Once you enroll, download the My Verizon app on your phone and visit the VerizonUp tab. There are a bunch of special offers that Verizon highlights in the app, such as Super Tickets for concerts that Verizon is sponsoring. The really good offers have a timer that counts down…once the timer hits “0,” you’re able to try to redeem your earned credits for the offer. You just have to make note to keep checking the app to see when they introduce an awesome offer in your city, like JT tickets. A couple women that I met at the concert had gotten their Super Tickets to the JT show in Boston and a bunch of other ticketed events in other cities this past year. I asked them if they were making big purchases to earn the credits and they said that they were just paying their monthly Verizon bill – that was it. Justin is coming back to Boston in October and I’m going to keep an eye out to see if Verizon will be releasing any of the Super Tickets for the show because I’d love to see him again that close to the stage.

Brianne and Crew

Filming with WCVB-TV’s “Chronicle” Show

Chronicle is a popular nightly news show that airs every weekday night on Channel 5 and highlights people, places and events in New England. I’ts been on-air for decades and people love watching it. The TV crew came to our house and filmed me (and Crew – he’ll be making a cameo appearance!) for a segment about local “influencers” and “influencer marketing.” I know I don’t have a hundred thousand Instagram followers but I have collaborated with a bunch of national and local brands and manage the social media strategies for some clients. I shared a lot of personal insight for anyone looking to grow their following. I shared tips that we haven’t all heard a million times already. Yes, attractive photos are super important but there are a lot of other things you can do if you want to grow your following and increase your engagement, specifically on Instagram. The segment will be airing in early May (I’ll announce the air date on  my Instagram Stories as soon as I know it).  Let’s see what soundbites made it on the show and then maybe I’ll do a more elaborate post on what I’ve learned and how it’s helped me.

Getting a Peloton Bike for At-Home Workouts

This has been a game-changer for me and my husband. I signed up for the local YMCA and cancelled after one visit. I just couldn’t do it. I am obsessed with the Peloton bike’s quality, the classes (my favorite instructor is Ally Love) and how it actually gets me to workout. There is nothing better than not having to pack a gym bag and stress out about trying to make a specific class time that is happening at a very inopportune time. I love being able to wear a mismatched workout outfit and just hop on for a quick 30 or 40 minute class while Crew is napping or after he goes to bed at 8pm. It makes working out so much less of a hassle that you end up working out more than you ever would without it. The way the classes are designed, the fun playlists and the whole community of riders (and tough instructors) is truly motivating. Highly recommend getting one, especially if you’re a mom with young kids or have a hectic schedule.

Prepping for My Sister’s Wedding and Bachelorette Party

My sister is getting married in Newport, Rhode Island, in August and it’s going to be a blast. I can’t wait. My mom, sister and I went down to NYC last month to see her dress in person at Saks once it arrived in-store (she had ordered her size when she saw it at a special Saks trunk show). The dress is jaw-dropping – she is going to look sooo amazing. I’m currently prepping for the bachelorette party, which is a weekend getaway in Las Vegas in June with 16 girls. Yes, 16 of us are going! I’m already bookmarking bathing suits, coverups and travel gear that I need to order before we leave. We’re staying at The Cosmopolitan, which really looks like it has the best things to do, right inside the hotel: a great pool scene, Beauty & Essex, Momofuko, Egg Slut and a new IV lounge (in case we are in need of some healthy vitamin infusions to keep us going after a long night). It’s going to be an unforgettable weekend – I haven’t been to Vegas in 15 years!

Thanks for reading…I’ll continue to write a “life lately” recap in the future too. More to come…
